Sunday School for all ages at 9am on Sunday Mornings. Children's classes utilize games, music and fun activities to learn the stories of our Christian faith and to live lives of kindness, compassion and love. The children are currently learning about the Sermon on the Mount. We have just begun Teen classes on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month at 6:30 in the evening. These classes last two hours and are intended to teach teens how to think and act as Christians in a difficult and confusing world. Their theme is also the Sermon on the Mount. Adults classes include in depth discussions of key Biblical themes highlighted by practical application to everyday life. Currently the Adults are studying the Gospel of Matthew and will continue through the New Testament spending 3-4 weeks per book. Weekly Devotionals. Because of the busy lives we live Pastor Collins includes devotional booklets in each sunday bulletin. Pastor Collins expands upon the sermon topic for the week and offers further insight, illustration, and a prayer guide so that we can continue to reflect on and learn about the Word of God. Mid-week Bible study Currently a group of people meets at the pastor's house to discuss the book of Revelation. Revelation is perhaps the most widely known book in the Bible and the most poorly understood and interpreted in popular American Christianity. If you would like to understand Revelation as book that is not meant to frighten, describe a violent end to the earth or condemn humanity to destruction, but instead to instruct the disciple in faithfulness in the face of temptation and opposition join us on Wednesday night's at 7pm. Bible Basics Many of our members have come to church without any prior experience in church and so with little familiarity with the Bible. Bible Basics classes meet on a week-day and Pastor Darin present the major themes of the Bible such as Creation, Fall, Redemption, Discipleship, Jubilee, and Hospitality, as well as major characters such as: Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, David, Jesus and Paul. Prayer Group Twice a month on Friday evenings Pastor Darin leads a prayer group. The purpose of the group is for believers to learn how to combine prayer and personal Bible study. We begin with centering prayer which focuses on listening for the voice of God in silence. A brief Bible study and discussion follows and we close with intercessory prayer. This is an important source of fellowship, spiritual development and study. Lenten/Advent Study Twice yearly we sponsor special studies for the weeks approaching Christmas and Easter. Past Topics have included Encounters with Emmanuel a study in discipleship, and Rescuing Christmas a study in combating the consumerism of popular Christmas celebration so as to experience the birth of Christ in our lives. |
