Berean Baptist Church

The Leadership of Berean Baptist Church recently concluded a process of discerning God's call to ministry and visioning of what these ministries would be.  Below you will see a list of the ministries and mission we feel God calling us to pursue over the next few years.

Going Green

Goal: To Improve the Stewardship of Creation at BBC
Tasks:
         1. Determine carbon footprint (3 months)
                    *research who will do the Audit at the Church
                    *recruit interested members & youth groups

         2. Use audit to prioritize action (9months)

         3. Fund Educational materials for youth & adults (6-9 months)

         4. Seek a green church certificate (2-3 years)

         5. Visible sign of BBC commitment (3-5 years)

Worship

Goal: To Empower the Worship and Fellowship Committee and the Congregation at large to participate in the planning of worship with the Pastor and Minister of Music.

Tasks:
       1. Worship Planning Retreat;  write Magnuson grant to fund Retreat leader

       2. Recruit 5-8 people to participate in retreat
                Implement Retreat in the summer/fall of 2010
                Worship & Fellowship Comm. will plan Advent 2010 with Pastor and Minister of Music

       3. Establish opportunities within congregation to inventory capabilities & resources for increased lay participation in  leading worship

       4. Self-esteem/assertive training workshop (18 months)

       5. Greater lay leadership in worship (2 years)

Education

Goal: Establish a Family Fun Night through the summer months to provide Entertainment with Christian message, 3 months, June-August

Tasks:
       1. Write a request for the Magnuson grant in the first 1-2 months so as to…H
       2. Hire consultant to coordination and oversee project
       3. Research tax implications of hiring consultant
       4. write job description for the coordinator
       5. Christian Ed to conduct search process for consultant through ABCORI
       6. Hire consultant
       7. Choose and implement Activities & Entertainment
                Activities for community folk
                        *open to public
                        -games
                        -nutrition program
                        -finance education program
                        -music/theatre
                        -movie night
       8. Recruit volunteers

Adopt a Community

Goal: Establish an ongoing relationship of mission, ministry, and support with a community outside of the U.S.

Tasks:
        1. Contact ABCUSA for rec. for mission sights that already is established (include congregation)
                -involve Sunday school in research & presentation
                -discuss with other ABCORI churches their involvement in international ministries
                -6 months

        2. Correspondence with local missionary to create relationship & learn about their need
            Produce a quarterly information and education packet…6 months

        3. Explore needs that missionary can’t fill

        4. Congregational discussion about discerned needs

        5. Create a financial plan to meet need

        6. Plan visit or exchange with village (2-3 years)

        7. Encourage other ABCORI churches to support this relationship
